Health & Safety Services - Emergency First Aid Training

The Emergency First Aid at Work training course consists of:

• 1 Day duration (Minimum 6 hours)
• New qualification HSE recognised
• Candidates will be assessed on the day that they are able to demonstrate the administration of first aid learnt that day prior to being deemed competent to receive the certificate at the end of the training
• Expires after 3 years
• HSE strongly recommend that annual training is undertaken (3 Hour training session)
• Understand the role of the first aider including reference to:
  • the importance of preventing cross infection
  • the need for recording incidents and actions
  • use of available equipment
  • assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency
  • administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious
  • administer CPR
• Administer first aid to a casualty who is -
  • choking
  • wounded and bleeding
  • suffering from shock
• Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries including -
  • small cuts
  • grazes and bruises
  • minor burns
  • scalds
  • small splinters
